One of my favorite projects that I’ve made - I knitted this out of Cascade 220 in order to teach myself different stitch patterns and techniques when I was first learning.

London Underground Socks.
I bought this sexy yarn by TrailingClouds on Etsy called Mind the Gap and was trying to figure out what colour to do on the other side of for the Stitch Surfer sock pattern. First I thought I could do black or charcoal to represent the black tube snot you get after your first few rides on the Underground, but then I though DUDE OYSTER CARD! So I striped the main colour side to represent the Oyster Card that you need to get onto the Tube.
Probably the most expensive socks I own now around $50 I spent on these bad boys to get them JUST RIGHT.
SO PROUD OF THESE! They look SO AMAZING, better then I could have ever planned.
Sexy yarn can be bought here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TrailingClouds?ref=search_shop_redirect (but she seems to be closed presently) You need to pay attention to her shop announcements to when she’s going to post the yarn because they’re usually gone within 24 hours.
The other colours I used were KnitPicks Stroll Glimmer yarn in Jay and Fiji, and KnitPicks Stroll Fingering in White.
Stitch Surfer Sock pattern is here:http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEdf12/PATTstitchsurfer.phpTHESE ARE SOOOOOOOOO AMAZING!!!! you don’t even understand how much i am in love with these.
These socks are totes amazeballs.
Lydia Pears, owner of Spun, a yarn shop in West Yorkshire, UK, knitted her own lace wedding gown. Gorgeous! She made the dress for around $300, and it took her four months to knit the over 100,000 stitches in the dress pattern.

This is incredibly cool, and definitely something i’m considering for my own wedding next August.

My next pattern: Coming soon to an internet near you!
Inspired by childhood road trips through old-growth forests.
Another hobby.
Unfortunately, I’ve spent the past week learning to crochet, and I love it.
If there’s one thing I could absolutely do without it’s another way to use color and texture and yarn-play, because I already have WAY too many other things to do!
Between the spinning, knitting, designing, writing, and everything else, I just don’t know why I couldn’t leave yarn enough alone.
Probably because I love the radical vintage-y feel of granny stripes and wool eater squares and hexagons and it’s all so geometric and modular and everyone picks such great colors…
But now all I can think about is expanding my color library and creating giant blankets that I definitely don’t have time for.
Woolly blues :(
